Xmas bugs

For the last three weeks I have suffered from various sickness bugs, gastro, flu, cold and now i think I have sinusitus and tonsilitus all the us's!!!
Little un has also been going through it to with sky high temps, sickness, endless runny nose etc.
Its not just us everyone i talk to seems to be ill or someones ill....its just hard bloomin work.

So I am finally dragging myself and little M to the docs today - i'm not one to rush to the doc at every given moment and i am wary especially in france of us getting dosed up on antibiotics or whatever wonderdrug their mate the pharmaceutical salesman deemed appropriate. When a few days of bed rest and a honey and lemon would have been just as good.

I have only ever taken anti-biotics once and thats when I was in hospital after the birth of little un (in france). The nurse asked me if I was allergic to AB and I said I hadn't a clue - they looked on in disbelief when i said my doc was a homeopath and i'd never taken any...so i phoned my mum and we kind of guessed that i wasnt as i'm not allergic to anything else...and luckily I was ok. There has been abit of a backlash against AB in the last few years i've seen a few ads on french tv that they are not the automatic solution for things...though they still seem quite prevelant.

I'm glad that health cheifs are finally admitting to something which seems quite logical in that something that supresses your own immune system AB, will eventually make your own defences lie dormant and become less effective at fighting disease. Making your immune system less capable. It maybe the quick fix but in the long run can damage your own defenses.

Hahaha I've just realised that this whole post completly contradicts itself in that - i'm moaning about being ill all the time - though I don't want to take AB...to ruin my so strong immune system??

In my defense I am pregnant and therefore my immune system is somewhat preoccupied looking after the little bean. Plus I'm not saying AB are never good - just that they should be used with caution and not in excess...

This was so not what I was going to write about....??!!
